Book Review: Platform – Get Noticed in a Noisy World by Michael Hyatt

I get asked frequently why I started this blog. Some look at my blog with cynicism and others find real value in the content I produce. I can’t please everyone but last year I made a conscious decision to create my very own ‘Platform’ because I wanted to have a voice in the marketing community and share my thoughts on various topics that mean a lot to me.

Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World’ by Michael Hyatt is not only a book on how to create your own platform, but it is a reference manual that you should have with you and constantly go back to as you grow your Platform whatever that may be. This book is a step-by-step guide on what to do and what not to do by one of the most influential people on the web.

I first learned about Michael when I found the following video online. When I saw it, I just had to buy his book, learn about his secrets and soak up his wisdom.

Platform is broken up into 60 chapters that discuss everything from effectively using Twitter to properly setting up a successful blog. What was most helpful is Michael’s advice on the various tools, templates and gadgets he uses to produce a successful Platform.

This is a must read for anyone who has started a Platform or who wishes to do so. Also be sure to check out Michael’s blog at michaelhyatt.com and listen to his weekly podcast, This is Your Life. He has also developed ‘Platform University’, an online educational forum where you can expand on everything discussed in his book.

An amazing book by an amazing author. I hope I have the privilege of meeting him one day.

If you have a Platform, I would love to learn about it. Please send me the link.
